Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. I’ve been warned by multiple individuals about the notorious Model S handle motors. It makes sense if you think about it since just about every day, many times a day at that, the elegant mirrored handle extends just for its beloved treehugger driver.
But not today! Nope, it happened. Went to get back to get my car after lunch and sure enough, the handle didn’t extend. No sound of a motor trying to make an effort or anything. Of course, I did the typical love bump to see if it was stuck with no success.
Fortunately, my 2014 Model S P85+ is still covered under a CPO warranty and I actually have service scheduled this Friday. Hopefully, it will be a quick fix for them, especially since I’m sure this is a common occurrence.
In looking at a couple forums along with other’s input on the issue I found many. Some with the handle stuck on the outside/extended position. Here is a video I found that may help and also speak to the cost of this issue.
